A pochi metri dal Colosseo, proprio sotto la sua ombra, in un luogo meraviglioso per la panoramica dell’Anfiteatro Flavio, si trova il Coming Out. Nel primo tratto di Via San Giovanni in Laterano, nel 2001, nasce questo locale da un’idea di due ragazze, Annalisa e Flavia, che diventa nel giro di pochissimo tempo, il punto di aggregazione e ritrovo della comunità LGBTQ di Roma. Nel 2008 si rinnova con un nuovo look, moderno, lineare, sullo stile newyorkese, mantenendo il suo calore e la sua accoglienza. Come in ogni buona tradizione gay, le proprietarie, attente ai cambiamenti di tendenza e styling, in occasione dei 15 anni (giugno 2016) dall’apertura, hanno deciso di offrire alla numerosa clientela, ancora una volta un locale nuovo ed adeguato alle nuove esigenze. Dalle prime ore del mattino, il Coming Out offre ai numerosi clienti e ai tanti turisti, ricche colazioni, anche internazionali, per poi passare ad una ristorazione completa di piatti della tradizione romana ed italiana in generale, che continua fino a notte inoltrata. Numerose le occasioni per stare insieme: musica dal vivo, karaoke, spettacoli con tutti i ragazzi dello staff pronti a far divertire e divertirsi.

Just a few meters from the Colosseum and in its shadow, the bar Coming Out enjoys a panoramic view of the Flavian Amphitheatre. Living at the beginning of San Giovanni in Laterano street, Coming Out was founded by Anna and Flavia and soon became the focal point of the LGBTQ community in Rome. In 2008, the bar was renovated to sport a new look, a New York modern and linear style, while retaining its warmth and welcoming atmosphere. Attentive to trends in the gay community, the owners again decided to renovate the bar in 2016 on the occasion of the 15 year anniversary of its opening, offering its clientele an updated renovation to reflect modern styling. Starting early each morning, Coming Out offers a hearty breakfast to its many patrons and numerous Italian and international tourists. Traditional Roman and Italian dishes are served beginning at lunchtime and continuing into late evening. Numerous occasions to have fun together include live music, karaoke and shows with a lively staff ready to entertain.

In via San Giovanni in Laterano, nel cuore di uno dei sette colli dell’antica Roma e di fronte all’incantevole maestosità del Colosseo, nasce la gay street, zona franca dell’espressione di libertà, tolleranza e democrazia, nasce una nuova cultura dell’accoglienza, che si tramuta in passione. L’ area intorno al Colosseo è fin dagli anni ’60 il luogo di ritrovo della comunità omosessuale romana ma nel 2007 il primo tratto di via San Giovanni in Laterano è stato ufficialmente battezzato come Gay Street. Un’area pedonale, 300 metri di negozi, ristoranti e bar gay e gay friendly che fanno da scenario alle serate lgbt romane e che di giorno si trasforma in un vivace punto di incontro dove passeggiare, fare shopping e gustare le prelibatezze della cucina italiana.

In the heart of one of the seven hills of ancient Rome and in front of the mesmerizing beauty of the Colosseum, the Gay Street is born, zone of freedom of expression, tolerance and democracy, where the new culture of THE “WELCOME” philosophy translates into pure passion. The area surrounding the Colosseum has been a meeting point for the gay community till the ‘60s, the first bit of Via San Giovanni in Laterano has been officially baptized as Gay Street in 2007. A pedestrian area, 300 meters of shops, restaurants, gay and gay friendly bars, which create the perfect background for the lgbt’s nights of Rome, and during the day, the street becomes a vibrant meeting point, to take a walk, do some shopping and taste the delicacies of the Italian cuisine.
